Stubs Motion Scenario
A stubs motion scenario is a predefined sequence of tuning stub insertions (positions).
Each combination of the tuning stub insertions will be referred to as a scenario triplet. A triplet is characterized by three individual stub positions (S1, S2, S3) in millimeters, plus a dwell time T in milliseconds. The dwell time is the interval that must elapse after setting the stubs before the next action (such as a measurement or another stub movement) can take place.
Thus, a scenario is a sequence of triplets, as listed in the Stubs Motion Scenario window (Fig. 44). This window can be opened by
-
clicking the Scenario button
on the Tuner View window, or -
clicking the Tuner|Scenario menu item.

The Stubs Motion Scenario window enables the user to:
-
Create a scenario by successively copying actual motor positions.
-
Save a created scenario to a text file.
-
Define scenarios in the form of a text file with a simple structure.
-
Load scenarios from text files with an appropriate structure.
-
Synthesize scenarios that would realize a desired set of input reflection coefficients.
-
Set individual positions of a scenario sequence by a mouse click.
-
Play a scenario, i.e., iterate the sequence once or repeatedly, considering the dwell time for each position.
-
Play a scenario while also making one or more measurements at each position and writing the results to an output text file. This, for example, is a basis for quick and accurate determination of Rieke diagrams of magnetrons.
-
Run prolonged tuner tests, intercepting and recording potential stepper motors errors.
The Stubs Motion Scenario can contain more than one page, thus defining more than one scenario.
Selecting a triplet (table row):
To select a triplet, click the desired table row at its leftmost gray cell (in Pos column). A “greater than” sign (>) and a black triangle (arrowhead) will appear in this cell (e.g., row 3 is selected in Fig. 44).
The > sign marks the starting point for playing this scenario. The arrowhead will show the current position as the scenario progresses and the whole current row will be shown in red.
Merely selecting a triplet does not move the stubs.
-
To move the stubs to currently selected positions, double-click anywhere in the columns S1, S2, or S3.
-
To select a triplet and move the stubs, double-click the leftmost cell of the desired row.
